Powerslave

Powerslave was released on the 3rd of September 1984 and went to number 2 in the charts. It  was the most adventurous album to date and saw maiden losing some of their Raw sound and developing a more melodic style sound, which the band still has today. The tour for the album was the first proper world tour that Maiden did and they performed in over 150 countries over a space of 14 months of non stop touring, this was one of the longest (if not the longest) single tour ever done by a band. The tour was so long that the band almost split up half way through from exhaustion, and Bruce Dickinson almost had a nervous breakdown, but they persevered and completed it. After the tour they took a short break (to recover) and decided to release a full live album to keep the fans happy while they were resting.
