The Number Of The Beast

The Number Of The Beast was released on the 29th of March 1982. The album was an instant hit and went straight to number 1 in the charts and also had 2 number 1 singles namely Run To The Hills and The Number Of The Beast. A number 1  album was rare enough for a metal band but for a metal band to have a number 1 album and 2 number 1 singles from that album was unheard of (and still is). The album was a landmark for the band and made them an instant world wide hit. It was also the first album to feature Maiden's longest running and most well known vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who has became the bands trademark vocalist. This was the last album to feature drummer Clive Burr who although not the original drummer  had been with the band since just before the release of their first album.
